Snowball

Ok, for all of you who know that one of my classes this semester involves training a rat to push a bar, well here she is. Her name is Snowball and she is soo cute. I got to run my first experiment with her this past Sunday after camping and she did great. She is one smart rat. It didn't take her long to learn to press down on a bar in order to get a food pellet. I am hoping that the rest of my experiments with her go so well.
Anyhow, off to school. I'll write again later and give updates on the camping trip this past weekend, our house and the family. Love to all.

It's beginning to feel like fall....

The temperatures around here have been so nice lately you feel fall/winter knocking on our door. We started the week with a rainy, cold Monday with temperatures never getting out of the 50's. As the week went on, the temperature got a bit warmer with highs in the lower 70's upper 60's but the lows remaining in the upper 40's to lower 50's. It is been nice. I really like this weather.

Well, for an update on our house. Yesterday, Brien and I had to get up very early in order to view the stain for the concrete floors since they were going to be staining during the day. So, we got the kids up and headed out at 6:30 in the morning. The stain looked good and we gave the go ahead with staining. Later that morning, Danny, who is the builder, called to make sure that the stain was alright and I told him yes. Brien came home last night and informed me that they stained the entire house and would be sealing it the rest of the week. He was told while he was out there that they were planning on start putting in the dry walls up on Monday. It feels like this house will be ready in no time. I am just hoping that I am not trying to move during Christmas, it would make for a very stressful holiday.

Now onto the boys. Hunter finished t-ball and is now signed up for kick ball. I found out that he was upset yesterday when he couldn't go to kickball since he wasn't signed up. He told me this morning not to forget to sign him up so he can go to kickball. Tyler is doing well. He brought home his report card last night and I am happy to report that he made straight A's and now I owe him $10 since I told him that he would get $10 if he made straight A's. He is still very much involved in cub scouts and this weekend we are heading out to go camping. So, if you try reaching us by email or phone, we will get back to you Sunday when we return.

School is going alright for me. It isn't very easy. One class in particular is a bit difficult but I am hoping to finish with at best a C. He isn't the greatest professor but he is one of two who teach this class. What can you do. I start training my lab rat this weekend also. I have to teach her to press a bar in order to receive food pellets. I named her Snowball. I am going to take my camera with me on Sunday afternoon when I go to the lab to do the experiment in order to take a picture of her. I'll post that when I get the chance.

That's it for now. Hope all is well with everyone. Talk to you all soon.

It's Sunday....

Well, it is Sunday morning and Brien is back at the house working on getting all the a/c stuff put in. Yesterday he got some of it done. Here is the link for the house photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/dalspots4u/HousePhotos?authkey=GgefV8I9SIE

T-ball was good yesterday although I think most of the kids were done after about 45 minutes of play. He played for the entire time. Originally, it was supposed to be 3 games, each 35 minutes but some of the green team didn't show up so they had to move some people around. Then since the kids were done, I think they decided that everyone had batted and caught the ball enough times that they were done. Here is the link for the t-ball game photos. http://picasaweb.google.com/dalspots4u/TBallGame?authkey=rljkFpipoUM

I can't believe how big my girls are getting. For those who don't know, I adopted 2 female dalmatian puppies from a rescue a few months ago. They were about 4-5 months of age and had been found wondering this street which I was told had been known for dog/puppy dumping. When I met them, they reminded me so much of Lady that I couldn't bear the thought of breaking the two of them up so Brien let me adopt both of them. At first, Wilson didn't want anything to do with them since he was now king of the castle but he has soften up and now plays with both of them. So I went from having just one to now having 3. I love it. Here is the link to their album. http://picasaweb.google.com/dalspots4u/Girls?authkey=2GIMl8nyzpo

I am putting together a web album for you all to be able to see the photos of everything. I decided that it would easier to see photos that way instead of this blog but I will occassionally put photos on here. I'm just not sure how many photos I am allowed to have on here.

Well, off to the store. Need to go grocery shopping. Hope all is well with everyone. Talk to you all soon.

It's Saturday morning....

It's Saturday and today is the day for Hunter's first t-ball game. I can't wait to see my little munchkin playing. Of course, I'll be taking my camera so that I can take pictures and share with all of you. I also will be taking more pictures of my house while Brien works putting in the a/c stuff. The house is coming along nicely. As of yesterday, they had the shingles on. Everything looks right on track for us to move in after the new year. Well, off for now....need to get the kiddos ready to go. Look for another post later on with pictures.

OK...here is an update

Well, it has been over a year since we moved out here to Texas and we are adjusting quite nicely. I started this blog when I was working overnights at Target and didn't do a good job at keeping up with it but have decided to try this again since I am finishing up school and the big news....we are building a house.

Tyler is now in the 5Th grade and was nominated to be part of the People to People Student Ambassador program like Josh. His trip is Exploring European History and will take him to Ireland, England, Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Well, that is if Brien and I can raise enough money to send him there. We still have to decide on whether or not to submit his application which will cost $400 but will refunded if he is not accepted after application and interview process. He is doing very well at Waverly Park and will be going on to middle school next year. He is still involved in cub scouts and he is a Webelo II and is preparing to cross over to Boy Scouts next year, I believe in March at the Blue and Gold Banquet.

Hunter is doing really good at his new preschool. He is attending the preschool at the YMCA in downtown Fort Worth. He is about 7 minutes from my job and it works out great. With his tuition, he is taking swimming lessons every Thursday and is doing great. I got to see a little of his swim lesson last Thursday. I have already signed him up for the next 2 sessions so that he can continue swimming. He is also doing T-ball thru his school which is nice. They practice in the mornings and will be having some games this coming Saturday and next Saturday. I'll be taking pictures and will post them afterwards.

Awhile back ago, I ended up getting tickets to a Texas Rangers baseball game which I took the kids and Marti to since Brien had to work late. They had a ball. We had seats about 5 rows back from the dugout right along 3rd baseline. When they were changing sides, Marti and I sent Tyler down to try and catch one of the baseballs they throw into the crowd, well....he managed to get the ball. So we came home with a souvenir. Also, that night while Tyler was eating some nachos, he managed to lose a tooth. Hunter keeps asking me when we are going to the baseball game again. Guess, next season we will have to invest in a couple of games.

Now, on the news about our house. We found some land in a development and decided to build a house. We will have 1.646 acres of land, Brien will get to have a workshop/garage of his own, and I get to look out my backyard to the animal reserve that is behind us. No one will ever build a house behind us and I get to watch deer, antelopes, buffaloes, and sometimes zebras out walking about. After months of revising our plans, since it is a semi-custom home type deal, they are in the process of building it right now. It looks to being done around January which is good since we both don't want to try and move during the holidays. I'll be able to post pictures later when I get home from work.

Well, I guess that is it for now. I will try to keep up with this as best that I can.
